Alexandra Rawohl (Mezzo-soprano) |
Born: 1979 - Hannover, Germany |
The German mezzo-soprano, Alexandra Rawohl, studied from 1998 to 2004 singing at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold with the professors Gerhild Romberger, Martin Christian Vogel and Thomas Quasthoff. For the winter semester 2003, she received a scholarship from the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold to attend the Opera School of the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, where she studied with Rowena Cowley and Graham Pushee. She presented her artistic singing diploma in June 2004 in the role of Giulio Cesare in the eponymous opera by George Frideric Handel - under the baton of Christoph Meier. Since the winter semester 2005, she stated an additional study at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Andreas Scholl and Ulrich Messthaler. This was followed by master-classes with Andreas Scholl, Helmut Kretschmar, Christoph Prégardien, Graham Pushee, Cord Garben and Bernarda Fink. Her particular interest in Baroque music led her to courses in Baroque with Margit Legler and Reinhold Kubik (Vienna). Multiple participation in the International Händelakademie in Karlsruhe and the International Bach-Akademie in Stuttgart (2006 with Gerhild Romberger) added to her vocal training. In 2000 she won 1st Prize for her musical performance at the Federal Singing Competition in Berlin. In 2005, she received scholarships from the Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation and des Wagner-Verbandes Minden.
The repertoire of Alexandra Rawohl includes works from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions, which currently is focusing on the interpretation of Baroque music. She has worked as a soloist in concerts with the Hannoversche Hofkapelle, Academia Filarmonica Köln, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra (Sydney) and Chamber Orchestra Leopolis (Ukraine). She is a member of Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz) and also performs with them as a soloist. She can also be heard in Lieder recitals. |
