The German tenor, music pedagogue and heologian, Martin Christian Vogel, began his s musical career as a member of the Thomanerchor Leipzig. After graduating from high school at the Thomas school, he began studies of Protestant theology at the Karl-Marx-Universität Leipzig, from which he graduated with a diploma. Afterwards he studied singing at the Leipziger Musikhochschule and graduated with a diploma.
during his studies, Christian Vogel became vocal coach with the Thomanerchor Leipzig, and was engaged as a lyric tenor and tenor buffo at the Opernhaus in Leipzig. After ten years, he moved to Berlin in 1989 and received an engagement at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. Guest performances and concert tours have taken him to many countries around the world.
In 1991, Christian Vogel was appointed Professor of singing at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. From 1997 to 2001 he was dean here, in 2001 he was elected rector of the university. He held this office until 2014. From 2000 to 2003 he was President of the Bundesverbandes Deutscher Gesangspädagogen (Association of German Singing Educators), and at the beginning of the 21st Century Chairman of the Association "Initiative Detmolder Sommertheater e.V.". He is also a member of the board of the Liz Mohn Kultur- und Musikstiftung (Liz Mohn Culture and Music Foundation) and, since November 2015, the Philharmonischen Gesellschaft für Ostwestfalen-Lippe (Philharmonic Society for East Westphalia-Lippe).
