The German contralto, Gerhild Romberger, grew up in Sögel (Emsland). After studying school music at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold, she concluded her singing training with Heiner Eckels with the national music teacher examination, the Künstlerischen maturity examination and the concert examination. Courses with Professor Annie Schoonus and the professors for singing Mitsuko Shirai and Hartmut Höll supplemented her studies.
From 1993 to 2001 as well as since 2003 Gerhild Romberger taught singing at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold. Since 1982 she leads an extensive concert activity within the areas of oratorio, Lieder and modern music in her homeland and abroad. Emphasis of her work is theme Lieder recitals. Her ability of the absolute singing makes her a demanded interpreter of contemporary music. The repertoire of the singer covers all big alto and mezzo-soprano parts of the oratorio and concert singing of the Baroque over the Classical period and Romantic up to the literature 20th century.
