Jan Börner (Counter-tenor) |
Born: 1984 - Solothurn, Switzerland |
The Swiss counter-tenor, Jan Börner, was born in Solothurn and grew up in Hubersdorf (SO). He attended the Musische Maturitätsprofil of the Canton School Solothurn. His singing training began in 1993 when he was a member of the Singknaben der St. Ursenkathedrale Solothurn, with whom he was allowed to witness countless concerts in Switzerland and throughout Europe. At 11, he enjoyed his first major solo appearance as a boy soprano. The great interest in early music and the participation in the Altus Group in the choir led him to take, in addition to the vocal training in the choir, singing lessons with Richard Levitt in Basel. In October 2004 he began his singing studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Ulrich Messthaler. Jan Börner won the study prize of the Migros-Kulturprozent, and in 2008 received the prize of the Regiobank Solothurn.
Jan Börner performs as soloist with Music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and is a member of various vocal ensembles. These include the Ensemble Glarean, the Cantus Firmus Vokalensemble, and the Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (formerly: vocal ensemble Schola Seconda Pratica of J.S. Bach-Stiftung, St. Gallen). In 2007, he sang in the Kammerchor Stuttgart. Since early 2007, he has also served as vocal coach with the Solothurn Singknaben. |
