Clemens Flämig (Tenor, Choral Conductor)

Born: 1976 - Dresden, Saxony, Germany

The German tenor and choral conductor, Clemens Flämig, received his first musical training as a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor (1986-1995). He studied church music, singing and choral conducting at the Musikhochschule Freiburg; artistic training singing at the Musikhochschule Mannheim; vocal and early music at the Musikhochschule Trossingen. He also attended master-classes with Andreas Scholl, Christoph Prégardien, Rudolf Piernay, Peter Schreier, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Simon Halsey, Kurt Widmer, Scot Weir, Mark Tucker, and James Taylor.

Clemens Flämig's repertoire as a singer ranges from Monteverdi's Marienvesper and J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) to Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah and contemporary Passions. In addition to his solo career, Flämig is freelancer in various professional ensembles such as the Rundfunkchor Berlin, RIAS-Kammerchor, Rundfunkchor Berlin, Dufay-Ensemble Freiburg and the Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz) (since its foundation in 2006).

Clemens Flämig directs the Schönbergchor Freiburg, worked as Kantor and organist at the Church of the Auferstehungskirche Freiburg-Littenweiler and the Evangelischen Bezirkskantorat Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. He also worked for several years as an assistant in Freiburger Bachchor. Since May 2011, he has worked as a vice-director of Knabenkantorei Basel. In 2013, he took several rehearsals with the Camerata Vocale Freiburg.
