Tom asked about Hickox's recording of the B minor Mass. Just briefly: I know it, and it is one of my top favourite performances of this work. I don't have time for a detailed review, unfortunately, but I'd strongly recommend it: fine singing and playing, a conductor attentive both to local details and to overall shapes, and some truly dramatic moments (a fine transition from the "adagio" setting of the "expecto" to the "vivace ed allegro" setting). Not everything is perfect, of course; but that's true of any MBM. The Hickox is certainly not the only recording I'd recommend -- there are other, equally fine performances. But, to my taste at any rate, none better.
