The German tenor, Sören Richter, began his singing career at age 8 as a choirboy in the Knabenchor Freiberg, and then as a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor. He was able to gain first experiences on stage at the age of 11, as the first boy in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (Semperoper Dresden and Komische Oper Berlin), as well as Master Cheney in Matthias Pintscher's contemporary opera Thomas Chatterton (Semperoper Dresden). From 2005 to 2012, he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, obtaing dipolmasa as opera and concert singer. In addition to his singing studies in Frankfurt, he attended master-classes with Helmut Deutsch, Angelika Kirchschlager, Kurt Moll und Rudolf Piernay. In February 2009, he won a scholarship of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation Live Music Now. In summer 2011, he was also a scholarship holder of the Richard-Wagner-Stipendienstiftung. Last year (2014), he received the Rudolf-Mauersberger-Stipendium of the Dresdner Kreuzchor.
Since 2009, Sören Richter is active as an opera and concert singer. He has appeared in productions of the Staatstheaters Darmstadt, Oper Frankfurt, Nationaltheaters Mannheim and Oper Köln, as well as the Festival Junger Künstler Bayreuth, the Händel-Festspielen Karlsruhe and in various projects of the Hessischen Rundfunks. In summer 2007 he appeared as a guest as madrigalist in Monteverdi's Orfeo under the direction of Gabriel Garrido, including at the Rheingau-Musik-Festival and the Festival International de Musique in Sarrebourg. In August 2009 he sang as a winner of the International Vorsingwettbewerbes at the Schlossoper Haldenstein under the conductor Marcus Bosch the role of Dancaïro in Georges Bizet's Carmen in Chur and the Marcus Bosch.
In the 2010-2011 season, Sören Richter could be heard at Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy in the role of Vicomte Cascada in Lehár's Die lustige Witwe, and at Opéra Monte Carlo under Asher Fisch in Richard Strauss' Salome as Third Jew Dritter Jude in the Jewish Quintet. In recent seasons he sang at the Thüringer Schlossfestspielen Sondershausen the role of Steuermann in the Der fliegende Holländer, as Doctor Blind in Die Fledermaus at the Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy, the role of Mime in Ring für Kinder at Oper Frankfurt, as well ass at the Ekhof Festival Gotha and the Fränkischen Sommer the role of Atrax in the highly regarded, rediscovered Baroque opera Sardanapalus by Christian Ludwig Boxberg, which was released on CD last year BY the Swiss label Pan Classics.
In addition to the musical theater Sören Richter is dedicated to activity as a concert singer, in cooperation with conductors such as Dietrich Ehrenwerth, Ralf Otto, Helmuth Rilling and Wolfgang Schäfer, with repertoire ranging from the early Baroque, works of Monteverdi, W.A. Mozart, Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn to contemporary compositions. With special preference, however, the young tenor performs the vocal works of J.S. Bach, in whose cantatas, oratorios and passions, he can be heard regularly as a soloist. He is also a member of Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz). |
