Born: Arnsberg, Westfalia, Germany

The German tenor, Georg Poplutz, graduated in English and Music Education at the Universities of Münster and Dortmund. During the course of his studies, he also received vocal lessons, and in 2002, he decided to concentrate on singing. He started studying voice with Berthold Possemeyer at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt / Main and took his excellent diploma. He furthered his studies with Christoph Prégardien at the Academy of Music Cologne and in 2007, he finished with the concert exam. In 2004, he has been recommended by the VDKC (GermanConcertChoirs´Society) and he was supported by "Yehudi Menuhin LiveMusicNow“ until 2007.

His concert repertoire has taken Georg Poplutz into engagements to many German cities as well as to Austria, China, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, throughout Southern Africa, and to recordings for radio stations and CD-productions. With the Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble and Arno Paduch as well as with Cantus Cölln and Konrad Junghänel he attends to the music of the 16th to 18th century. He worked with conductors including Marcus Creed, Werner Ehrhardt, Helmut Müller-Brühl, Peter Neumann, Ralf Otto, Wolfgang Schäfer, and Winfried Toll, and gives recitals with his piano partner Hilko Dumno among others.

In summer 2004, Georg Poplutz gave his operatic debut at the Gießen theatre within Monteverdi´s L´Incoronazione di Poppea and sang in two productions with the Frankfurt Opera. He could be heard in Méhul's L'Irato at the Beethoven Festival Bonn and also in W.A. Mozart´s Zaide at the Ludwigsburger Festspiele and at the Düsseldorfer Altstadtherbst. Among the festivals he appeared are the Handel Festival Halle / Saale, Tage Alter Musik Herne, MDR-Musicsummer, Rheingau, and Schwarzwald. In addition, he sang at the concert halls of Cologne, Dortmund, Essen, and Freiburg. For 2008, he is invited to sing at the Hamburger Michel and to the Bachfest Leipzig.
