The German tenor, Tobias Hunger, began his musical training with the Dresdner Kreuzchor and studied with Hermann Christian Polster at the Hochschule für Musik Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig. He attended master-classes with Peter Schreier, Scot Weir, Gerd Türk and the King’s Singers.
As an internationally renowned concert and oratorio singer, Tobias Hunger pays special attention to the music of the 17th and 18th century. He has sung repeatedly under famous conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, Georg Christoph Biller, Helmuth Rilling, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Ludger Rémy, Wolfgang Katschner and Ludwig Güttler. His concert repertoire encloses not only composers of the renaissance, classic and modern times, but also the entire vocal literature J.S. Bach.
In the field of opera, Tobias Hunger has sung parts like Paolino (The secret marriage), Caramello (A Night at Venice), Don Ottavio (W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni), Ferrando (W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte), Imeneo (Imeneo), Acis (Acis and Galatea) and the Operatenor in the contemporary opera of filmmusic composer Mario Felix Lange according to Elke Heidenreich's children’s book At the South Pole you think it is hot. With songs of the Comedian Harmonists he can be heard as Asparuch Ari Leschnikoff at different theatres of Germany. |
