Werner Buchin (Counter-tenor)

Born: Lübeck, Germany

The German counter-tenor, Werner Buchin, studied after high-scholl organ building and concert singing at the College of Music of his hometown with Professor Ute von Garczynski. He was scholarship holder of the ‘Internationalen Haendel academy Karlsruhe’, where he participated several times in master classes with Paul Esswood and Jochen Kowalski.

On the opera stage Werner Buchin sang the title role in George Frideric Handel's Ezio and in G.F. Handel’s Tamerlano. As singer actor he was to be seen also in productions of G.F. Handel oratorios Hamor (Jephta) and David (Saul). In addition he sang roles like Castor in J.Ph. Rameau’s opera Castor & Pollux, the hero Strefon and the goddess of Juno in the early German opera Daphne (Bontempi/Peranda).

With numerous broadcast CD productions Werner Buchin worked as a soloist with (Danmarks radio, Sveriges radio, MDR, NDR, WDR, Sony Vivarte with La Capella Ducale/Musica Fiata Köln). He sang Lieder and Cantatas in Bach-Haus (Leipzig), at the Händel Festival in Halle among other things, as well as at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

From 1998 to 2000 Werner Buchin specialised in singing the Danish University for Music in Odense. Since 2001 he is active in the Buccino Musikverlag created by him as publisher.
