Florian Sievers (Tenor)

Born: October 29, 1988 - Hamburg, Germany

The German tenor, Florian Sievers, began at the age of 8 his musical education as a boy soprano in the Chorknaben Uetersen, a regional boys choir. He first studied music education before starting to study singing with Professor Berthold Schmid at the Started School at Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig (2013-2018), which he graduated with distinction in 2018.

As a soloist Florian Sievers has appeared in many venues around Germany singing oratorio and opera repertoire from early Baroque to romanticism. Besides his solo career, he is constantly singing in various ensembles. He is a founding member of the Sony Classical artist Quartonal, a German four-part male group which gives concerts around Europe and beyond. He has sung in many professional choirs, such as the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Choir and Chamber Choir of Europe. He was part of the World Youth Choir session of 2010 and is a founding member of the Time Ensemble.

Florian Sievers has gained opera experience as a baron in Lortzing's Wildschütz, Mamud in Antonio Vivaldi's La verità in cimento, pastore and spirto in Monteverdi's Orfeo and as the first prisoner in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio. Here he worked with directors like Michael Höppner and Clara Pons.

Florian Sievers is now a soloist in demand beyond national borders, mainly in the concert and oratorio field. In the 2018-2099 season, he sang the part of the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) under Jordi Savall, making his debut in the Philharmonie de Paris, Barcelona and Versailles. He also played with Hans-Christoph Rademann and Jos van Veldhoven at the Bachwoche Stuttgart and with the Lautten Compagney Berlin under Wolfgang Katschner at the Bachfest Leipzig. With Benjamin Britten's War Requiem he made his debut in Leipzig, Heidelberg and Tübingen under David Timm, with L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in Sønderborg (Denmark) and Flensburg under Matthias Janz.

Upcoming projects for 2019-2020 include concerts with W.A. Mozart's Requiem under Frieder Bernius in Spain, Italy and Slovenia, Lider (Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann) with Ragna Schirmer and Pia Davila at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) in the large hall of the Leipzig Gewandhaus and Monteverdi's Vespers and various J.S. Bach cantatas in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. In addition, Florian Sievers will debut at the Chemnitz Theater in the 2019-2020 season as Dancairo in Georges Bizet's Carmen and First Armored in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte.

His musical partners included La Capella Reial de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations (Director: Jordi Savall), Concerto Köln, Hamburger Symphoniker, Vocalensemble Rastatt and Les Favorites Barockorchester (Director: Holger Speck), Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg, Ensemble Schirokko, Sønderjyllands Symfonieorkester, Leipziger Barockorchester, Handel Festival Orchestra Halle and Wunderkammer Baroque Ensemble Berlin.

Florian Sievers regularly invites to festivals such as the MDR Music Summer, Stuttgart Music Festival, Heinrich Schütz Music Festival, Magdeburg Telemann Festival, Bachfest Leipzig, Eisenach and Arnstadt and the Origen Festival (Switzerland).

Florian Sievers is represented on CD and radio recordings for Sony Classical, CPO, Coviello Classics, Rondeau, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, MDR Klassik and NDR Kultur. In 2020 there will be a soloist in J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245) with the Wunderkammer Baroque Ensemble Berlin. There will also be world premiere recordings of the romantic oratorio Moses by Adolph Bernhard Marx with the GewandhausKammerchor (conductor: Gregor Meyer) and rediscovered solo works by Hamburg church music director Thomas Selle. He currently lives in Leipzig, Germany
