The Dutch conductor, Jos van Veldhoven, received his training at the Institute of Musicology at the University of Utrecht. He also studied choral and orchestra conducting at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
Since 1983 Jos van Veldhoven has been the Music Director of The Netherlands Bach Society. He regularly conducts choir and orchestra in the Netherlands and abroad in concerts of the major works of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries, among which the traditional performances of the St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) in Naarden. Since 1989 he is also conductor of Cappella Figuralis, an ensemble of soloists of The Netherlands Bach Society that specializes in 17th century music. In addition he conducts the Utrechts Barok Consort he founded in 1976. In recent times Jos van Veldhoven attracted attention with performances of 'new' repertoire in ancient music.
Jos van Veldhoven teaches choral direction at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam and at the Royal Conservatory in Hague. |
