The blind German soprano, Gerlinde Sämann, studied as a pianist and a singer at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich and with Professor Karl-Heinz Jarius, Henriette Meyer-Ravenstein and Selma Aykan. In addition she completed her education as a Breath-Therapist according to the method of Ilse Middendorf.
Gerlinde Sämann's repertoire comprises not only of historical compositions but also of Lied, Oratorio and modern Avant-garde music and -theater. In 2000 she received a scholarship for her extraordinary artistic work of the city of Munich.
In 1999 Gerlinde Sämann performed La voix Humaine, tragedy lyric of Francis Poulenc, directed by Arila Siegert at the Opernfestspiele Schloß Rheinsberg. In 2000-2001 this opera was very successfully revived as a guest-performance at the Stadttheater Aachen. She was soloist accompanied by the Dresdner Kreuzchor, the Mittelalter- Ensemble Estampie, Armonico Tributo Austria, Arsys Bourgogne and others as well as performing at different very well known Festivals: Styriartres, La Folle Journée de Nantes, Festa da Musica Lisboa, Festival de Vezelay Bourgogne and others.
In 2002-2003 season Gerlinde Sämann gave a guest-performance with Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat mater at Theater Neumarkt, Zürich, directed by Otto Kukla. This production was also performed in St. Petersburg and Moscow. In 2003 the production Die Frau vom Meer of Ibsen followed. Further more she sang various solo Bach Cantatas at the Opéra of Bordeaux accompanied by the Ensemble La Petite Bande conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken. In summer 2004, she sang the role of Eurydike in C.W. Gluck's opera Orfeus und Eurydike at the Oper of Rostock.
Gerlinde Sämann has been broadcasted nationally and internationally and several CDs have been produced. |
