Patricio Sabaté (Baritone) |

The Chilean baritone and singing teacher, Patricio Sabaté, studied at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile. He persued further studies in in 2007 with maestro Bruno Pola in Lugano-Switzerland. He received a scholarship from the "Amigos del Teatro Municipal" in 1994; nominated for the following awards: Asociación de Periodistas de espectáculos APES 2004 (Association of Journalists of entertainment APES) and Altazor 2011; recognized as "Best National Soloist" by the "Círculo de Críticos de Arte de Valparaiso" (Art Critics Circle of Valparaíso) in 2008 and awarded by the "Círculo de Críticos de Arte de Chile" (Art Critics Circle of Chile) in 2009 and 2014.
Patricio Sabaté has performed in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua, France and Finland. He has sung more than thirty operas, including the premieres in Chile of Orfeo by Monteverdi, Platée and Las Indias Galantes by J.Ph. Rameau; Dialogues des Carmélites by Francis Poulenc, Alcina by George Frideric Handel, Ariadne auf Naxos by R. Strauss and Billy Budd by Benjamin Britten.
Among his most outstanding roles are Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Don Giovanni in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Orfeo in L'Orfeo by Monteverdi, Dandini in La Cenerentola, Belcore in L'elisir d'amore, Sulpice in La fille du régiment, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Silvio in I Pagliacci, Marcello in La Bohéme and Pelléas in Pelléas et Mélisande.
His symphonic and chamber repertoire includes: Cantata BWV 82 Ich Habe Genug, Cantata BWV 140 Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, Cantata BWV 212 Mer hahn en neue Oberkeet, Mass in B minor BWV 232, Magnificat BWV 243, St. Matthew Passion BWV 244 and St John Passion BWV 245 by J.S. Bach; Messiah and Joshua by G.F. Handel; Stabat Mater by F.J. Haydn; Requiem by W.A. Mozart; Die erste Walpurgisnacht by Felix Mendelssohn; Symphony No. 9 by L.v. Beethoven; A German Requiem by Johannes Brahms; Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen and Das Lied von der Erde by Gustav Mahler; Messa di Gloria by G. Puccini, Serenata Op. 24 by Arnold Schoenberg; Carmina Burana by Carl Orff; Ernste Gesange by Hanns Eisler; Symphony No. 14 by Dmitri Shostakovich; and Requiem of War by Benjamin Britten. He is a member of Coro Bach Santiago (since 2018).
Patricio Sabaté is a teacher of Superior Singing Interpretation Chair at the Universidad de Chile (Since March 2010) and the Universidad Católica de Chile. He also works at Corporación Cultural Nuevo Mundo (since March 2017); Artística Espectáculos (since January 2019); IMUC Chile (since March 2019).
