The German oboist, Susanne Regel, became fascinated with woodwind instruments already as a schoolgirl, and began an intensive study of the recorder, modern oboe and also historical oboe. In 1993, as the youngest participant, she it to the semi final of the international “Alte Musik” competition in Bruges.
In 1995 Susanne Regel was appointed solo oboe of the internationally acclaimed ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln under Reinhard Goebel. With this and also other ensembles she made her debut as instrumental soloist in the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including: Carnegie Hall (New York), Salle Pleyel (Paris), Barbican (London), Philharmonie (Berlin), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Art Center (Seoul), Tonhalle (Zrich), Alte Oper (Frankfurt), Usher Hall (Edinbourgh), De Doelen (Rotterdam) and many more…
An internationally acclaimed performer, Susanne Regel has made hundreds of radio, CD and DVD recordings. Special attention should be drawn to her participation in the complete recordings of the J.S. Bach's cantatas under John Eliot Gardiner with the English Baroque Soloists in the year 2000. Susanne Regel teaches the historical oboe at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, and at the Staatliches Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen. She also teaches in international master-classes in Essen, Minsk, St. Petersburg, Los Angeles, Washington, Trossingen and Moskau.
