Nils Giebelhausen (Tenor)

Born: November 12, 1972 - Ratingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

The German tenor, Nils Giebelhausen, studied singing with Hanno Blaschke in Munich, Anna-Maria Castiglioni in Milan and Wilfried Jochens in Hamburg. He completed his training by participating in master-classes with Barbara Schlick. As early as 1992, he won a prize at the vocal competition of the Deutschen Tonkünstlerverbandes.

1998 in Rimini, Nils Giebelhausen gave his operatic debut in A. Draghi's Baroque opera La patienza di Socrate con due mogli conducted by Alan Curtis. In spring 2000 he appeared at the Bayerischen Staatsoper in Munich in C. Monteverdi's Orfeo as Pastore. In 2004 he sang at the Days of Early Music in Bamberg "Blifil" in F.-A. Philidor's opera Tom Jones.

As an oratorio singer Nils Giebelhausen has appeared all over Germany with special focus on Bach oratorios and passions. Concert tours have taken him so far to Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, Canada and Japan.

Moreover, Nils Giebelhausen sings regularly in early music ensembles such as the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor (Director: Thomas Hengelbrock), Weserrenaissance, Himlische Cantorey, Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble, and Orlando di Lasso-Ensemble and works with conductors as Thomas Hengelbrock, Konrad Junghänel, Frieder Bernius and Peter Neumann.
