Beat Duddeck (Counter-tenor) |
Born: Germany |
The German counter-tenor, Beat Duddeck, started his singing career as a boy soloist in Braunschweig Staatstheater. While engaging in comprehensive activities as a choir singer, he studied Mathematics and Physics in Stuttgart and Hannover, and received singing training from Professor Kobeck at the Musikhochschule Köln, where he gained knowledge of the interpretation and performance practice of the Renaissance and Baroque with Konrad Junghänel and Rudolf Ewerhart. Besides he took part in various operas performed in Köln, Tübingen, Munich, Vienna and Münster as well as at the Wiesbadener Opernfestspielen (Wiesbaden Opera Festival).
Today the soloist Beat Duddeck is a sought-after alto in the oratorio field who focuses on works by Baroque and Classical composers. He regularly sings with a whole range of German as well as foreign ensembles specialised in Renaissance music (e.g. Innsbrucker Hofkapelle, Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam).
Since 1986 Beat Duddeck has been a member of the Orlando di Lasso Ensemble. Today he regularly works with leading interpreters of early music: Philippe Herreweghe, Thomas Hengelbrock, Paul Hillier, Philippe Pierlot, Hermann Max, Peter Philips, Paul van Nevel, etc. Numerous CD and television productions as well as an increasingly frequent stage work in the opera field or in scenic productions of oratorios form other special points of interest within his work. There Beat Duddeck had the opportunity to work with Achim Freyer and Philippe Arlaud. In June 2006 he sang in Israel the alto part in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) with the Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem under the direction of Hermann Max. |
