The French soprano, Sabine Devieilhe, studied first cello and musicology. This was followed by the teachings of Jocelyne Chamonin, Martine Surais, Pierre Mervant, Malcolm Walker or Kenneth Weiss, Anne Le Bozec, Susan Manoff, Olivier Reboul and Elène Golgevit. She received the First Price unanimously with the congratulations of the jury of the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in 2011.
Parallel to her studies Sabine Devieilhe began a close collaboration with ensembles like Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon) and Les Cris De Paris (Director: Geoffroy Jourdain) and performs a large repertoire from ancient music to contemporary music, while she approachs the Baroque repertoire from J.S. Bach to Rameau with Jean-Claude Malgoire and Alexis Kossenko and while the Orchestre National d’Ile de France (L’enfant et Les Sortilèges, conducted by David Levi) and the Orchestre de Paris gave her access to other stages. She also performed in concert with Les Arts Florissants, Marc Minkowski and Les Musiciens du Louvre, Hervé Niquet and Le Concert Spirituel...
As from 2011-2012 Sabine Devieilhe's career took off at great speed: she made her first steps in the Bel Canto with Amina in La Sonnambula under Jean-Claude Malgoire who also offers her La Folie in Platee; the Aix-en-Provence Festival invited her for Serpetta in La Finta Giardiniera (staged by Vincent Boussard, July 2012); the Montpellier Opera offered her the title-part of Lakme; she was awarded Lyric Artist Discovery of the year at the 20th de la Musique in 2013; the Lyon National Opera gave her the opportunity to perform her first Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte and she signed an exclusivity contract with Erato/Warner Classics! 2013-2014: she returned to Lyon National Opera for Constance in Dialogues Des Carmelites (staged by Christophe Honoré), repeated Serpetta at the Toulon Opera and jumped in for Constance/in ialogues Des Carmelites at Paris Théâtre des Champs-Elysées (conductor Jérémie Rohrer, staged by Olivier Py). She made her debuts successively at Paris Opera Comique as Lakme, at Paris National Opera as Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, as well as at La Monnaie Royal Theatre in BrusselS as Euridyce in Orphee Et Euridyce ...
Her first solo album “Rameau, le Grand Théâtre de l’Amour” with Les Ambassadeurs under Alexis Kossenko (November 2013) has been awarded Diapason d’Or, Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros, Disc of the week on BBC Radio 3 (week of Jan 25) & Caecilia Prize 2013 in Belgium.
As from 2014-2015, she returns to Toulon for Lakme, to Paris Opera Comique for Adèle in Die Fledermaus, she makes her debut as Mélisande in Pelleas et Melisande with Jean-Claude Malgoire and as Nanetta/Falstaff at Marseille Opera and repeats Fire, Princess and Nightingale / L’enfant et les Sortileges at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, etc. In concert, she performs with Les Ambassadeurs at the Pontoise Festival; Les Siècles at La Cité de la Musique in Paris; Ensemble Pygmalion at the Saint-Denis Festival ; under Esa-Pekka Salonen in a concert version of L’Enfant et les Sortilèges with the Orchestre De Paris at La Philharmonie de Paris, the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in London or in Stockholm with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, etc.
As a fervent defendant of the Lied and the mélodie, she performs in recital with Anne Le Bozec at the Glasgow Conservatory, the Lyon National Opera and at the Auvers Sur Oise Festival, among others. |
