The American tenor, Gregório Taniguchi, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from University of Sothern California (CSU) Long Beach (2005-2010); sand his Master of Music degree in Early Music - Voice from the Historical Performance Institute at Indiana University (2018). He also attended the American Bach Soloists Academy in San Francisco (2017), as well as master-classes with Aaron Sheehan and Judith Malafronte at Indiana University (both in 2017). His teacher have included Steven Rickards, Mark Goodrich, Tim MacDougall and Elisabeth Pehlivanian and his coaches Jeffrey Thomas, John Butt and Paul Elliott.
Gregório Taniguchi delights audiences with his dynamic expression of language and physical gesture. As an ambassador for early music, he crafts each performance to be imbued with a range of colors and emotions to "move the humours" with historically-informed insight. He has portrayed the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) with John Butt and has appeared as tenor soloist in several Bloomington Bach Cantata Project concerts. An avid chorister, he has performed with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale (since July 2010) and the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus (since 2017). In southern California, he has appeared as soloist and chorister in the Los Angeles Bach Festival and was a staple of the region's elite choral groups including Pacific Chorale (since December 2010) and the John Alexander Singers, Horizon Music Group, Pacific Bach Project, and The Golden Bridge. In addition, he has been Tenor Section Leader/Soloist at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (April 2008-May 2013) and at St. Wilfrid of York Episcopal Church in Huntington Beach (since July 2010); and Choral Scholar at Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis (July 2016-August 2017). Since August 2018, he sings tenor in Cantus in Minneapolis. |
