The Indonesian-born soprano, Erika Tandiono, studied at University of Melbourne in 2012 Historical Gesture under Helga Hill, a recipient of the Order of Australia medal. Before deciding to come to Germany in 2018 to pursue her passion in Early Music more deeply, she worked as dental assistant alongside her work as a freelance singer and a voice teacher in Melbourne, Australia. In 2022, she completed her Master’s degree studies of Early Music (Voice) at the Hochschule Für Künste Bremen (October 2018-March 2022) under the tutelage of Professor Benno Schachtner, Bettina Pahn and Gerd Türk. She is currently being coached by the celebrated singer Sonia Tedla. She has also participated in master-classes with other mentors such as Manfred Cordes, Alessandro Quarta, Dame Emma Kirkby and Ulrike Hofbauer.
Erika Tandiono specialises in music from the 16th to the 18th century and is praised for her “bell-clear” voice, virtuosity and excellent musical ornaments. The highlights of her engagements in 2024 include a concert tours in the USA, Canada and Europe with the award winning ensemble Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier). She has had the privilege to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, such as the Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Palau de la Música Catalana, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Berliner Philharmonie.
Since her move to Germany in late 2018, Erika Tandiono collaborates regularly with various vocal ensembles and chamber music ensembles, such as the Chorus Musicus Köln & Das Neue Orchester (Director: Christoph Spering), Weser-Renaissance Bremen (Director: Manfred Cordes), La Capella Ducale & Musica Fiata (Director: Roland Wilson), Rheinische Kantorei (Director: Hermann Max), Capella de la Torre (Director: Katharina Bäuml) and Musica getutscht. Erika performs internationally in music festivals in Europe and Australian, such as the Bachfest Leipzig (Germany), Salzburger Festspielen (Austria), Festival de Pâques (France) and Organs of the Ballarat Goldsfields Festival (Australia), to name a few.
In 2020 Erika Tandiono received the Bovicelli Young Talent Award for her own diminution in the Bovicelli Competition, a competition focusing on the late Renaissance and early Baroque vocal diminutions. Erika has performed as a soloist with some of the most distinguished ensembles and orchestras in Australia, such as the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra (Andrew Wailes), Melbourne Baroque Orchestra, Australian Chamber Choir (Douglas Lawrence) and Ludovico’s Band (Marshall McGuire). She has recorded CD's for the labels of Ricercar, cpo, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Arcantus and Move Records. From 2015 until 2018 she held the position of the Principal Soprano at the Scots’ Presbyterian Church in Melbourne, Australia.
Together with other Indonesian musicians based in Europe, Erika Tandiono wishes to introduce Baroque Singing to the Indonesian classical music community. She currently lives in Bremen, Germany. |
