The German soprano, Bettina Pahn, first studied cello and later focused on singing at the Hanns Eisler Music University in Berlin and with Professor Elsa Cavelti in Frankfurt. Her moving to lyric soprano voice quickly excited the interest of diverse conductors in the areas of Oratorio, early music and Lieder.
In recent years Bettina Pahn has co-operated intensively with Ton Koopman in concerts and recordings. Their 2006 Carnegie Hall debut in New York forms part of this collaboration, as do appearances in the most important concert halls of Europe, including, among others, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in 2007, the Bolschoi Hall of the Moscow Conservatory in 2008, and numerous international festivals. The first two albums of a set of CD’s with Ton Koopman dedicated to the work Dietrich Buxtehude appeared in 2007 and 2008. The second album "Opera Omnia VII - Volume 3" received the German Echo Klassik Award 2009. Additionally, Bettina Pahn has sung under the direction of Frieder Bernius, Pierre Cao, Peter Rundel and Patrick Peire, among others. A close co-operation connects her with the sacred music at St. Michaelis Cathedral in Hamburg under the direction of Christian Schoener.
Bettina Pahn has enjoyed a collaboration of many years with her duo partner, Echo prize winner lutenist Joachim Held. In 2007 the duo performed with great success at the Göttinger Handel Festival, in June 2008 at the Schwetzinger Festival and in August 2009 at the Schleswig-Holstein-Festival. In autumn 2007 Hänssler Classic released their first collaborative CD of German folk songs and in summer 2009 a CD of German Christmas songs "Silent Night". In 2011 the Duo is invited to renowned Innsbruck Festival of Early Music in Austria and in 2012 at the Würzburger Bachtage.
