Christian Rohrbach (Counter-tenor, Conductor)

Born: Germany

The German counter-tenr and conductor, Christian Rohrbach, received his training as counter-tenor from Professor Monika Bürgener.

As a sought-after concert singer, Christian Rohrbach has performed at the Händelfestpiele in Göttingen and Halle, as well as at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Telemanntagen Magdeburg, Würzburger Bachtage and Wiesbadener Bachwochen, under conductors such as Jörg Straube, Michael Hofstetter, Michael Schneider, Christian Kabitz and Martin Lutz. At the Staatstheater Mainz, he sang the title role of Cain in Alessandro Scarlatti's Il Primo Omicidio overo Cain under the musical direction of Ralf Otto in a production by Tatjana Gürbaca and was thus able to celebrate great success with the specialist press and audience.

As a choral director, Christian Rohrbach was a guest at important German theaters and at renowned festivals, among others. at the Oper Frankfurt, Oper Köln, at the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele and Rheingau Musik Festival. As a conductor, he has appeared at the Staatstheater Mainz, Wiesbadener Bachwochen and Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele. In the season 2015-2016 he conducted A. Scarlatti's Gli Equivoci nel Sembiante in a production of the Staatstheater Wiesbaden.

Christian Rohrbach also appears as a composer and has a teaching position as a rhetorician at the Schwetzinger SWR Festspielen. As an artistic collaborator, he is involved in the excellent study program Barock Vokal, where he regularly collaborates with some of the most renowned artists of the Early Music scene, such as Andreas Scholl, Ton Koopman, Michael Hofstetter, Konrad Junghänel, Wolfgang Katschner, Jaap ter Linden, Andrea Marcon and Michael Form.
