Julian Prégardien (Tenor) |
Born: July 12, 1984 - Frankfurt, Germany |
The German tenor, Julian Prégardien, has studied with Reginaldo Pinheira at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg since 2005. In the summer of 2008 he was a member of the Académie Européenne de Musique at the d'Aix-en-Provence Festival.
Julian Prégardien made his first experiences in opera with the first performance of Reinhard Keiser's Fredegunda at the Prinzregententheater in Munich in 2007. In 2008 he appeared in Gluck's Ezio at the Theater an der Wien and sang in Haydn's L'infedelta delusa (Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, Jérémie Rhorer) on tour in europe with the Aix Festival and Opéra de Monte Carlo, which included performances at the Teatro Calderón Bilbao, the Bremen Musikfest and Opéra de Lille.
Julian Prégardien is much in demand as a concert singer and appears regularly at important concert halls and international festivals. In 2009 he was invited to give a matinee at Menuhin-Festivals Gstaad, as part of the Jeunes Étoiles series. Other concert work in the summer of 2009 included a return to the Innsbruck Festwochen (J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243) with René Jacobs and Jan Dismas Zelenka's Lamentationes with Konrad Junghänel) and a concert during the Barock Music Weeks in Ernen, with the Baroque orchestra La Scintilla. A new recording of J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245) with La Chapelle Rhénane and Julian Prégardien as Evangelist will be released soon and a recording of J.S. Bach's Matthew Passion (BWV 244) is planned for 2010. The first recording of Michael Haydn's Requiem in B Major, under the Carus label, received a MIDEM Cannes Classical Award in 2007. He gave his first recitals with Götz Payer at Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and Zürich in 2008.
Julian Prégardien joined Oper Frankfurt's Ensemble in the 2009-2010 season, during which he will sing Victorin in Korngold's Die tote Stadt, Lechmere in Benjamin Britten's Owen Wingrave and Holofernes in de Almeida's La Giuditta (all new productions) and The Novice in a revival of B. Britten's Billy Budd. Among his pupils and/or singers who have attended his master-classes: Ansgar Theis (Baritone). |
