The German tenor, Bruno Michalke, has been a member of the Freiburger Domsingknaben since 1982, and received his first singing lessons with Willem Verkerk and Ulrich Rausch. In addition to a chemist's degree at the University of Cologne, he took lessons from 2003 to 2006 with Alastair Thompson, since 2006 with Martin Lindsay.
Bruno Michalke has been a soloist with a focus on the oratorio, as an ensemble member, and has worked with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Heribert Beissel, Frieder Bernius, Riccardo Chailly, Reinhard Goebel, Robin Gritton, Rupert Huber, Hermann Max, Peter Neumann, Sir Simon Rattle and Christoph Spering and has contributed to many radio and CD productions. He has been a member of professional vocal ensembles as the Rheinische Kantorei, ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath), Deutschen Kammerchor, Kammerchor Stuttgart and Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering). Concert tours have taken him to Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Finland, Hungary, Russia, South America and Yemen.
Bruno Michalke's solo repertoire includes works from 17th to 20th centuries: Heinrich Schütz (Evangelist in Johannes-Passion and Matthäus-Passion, Musikalische Exsequien), J.S. Bach (Arias of Johannes-Passion BWV 245 and Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 and numerous Cantatas), Georg Philipp Telemann, George Frideric Handel (Messiah) Joseph Haydn (The Creation), W.A. Mozart, Charles Gounod (Cäcilienmesse), works of French Romanticism, and Arvo Pärt (sacred works). |
