The German mezzo-soprano, Henriette Gödde, started her studies in Music Education at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and then went on to the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden to study voice. A student of Professor Christiane Junghanns since 2010, she graduated in 2013. She complemented her musical training by studying in the Meisterklasse Lied und Konzert headed by Professor Olaf Bär and with master-classes led by Gerold Huber, Christa Ludwig and Helmut Deutsch. Whilst studying in Dresden, she appeared in numerous opera and concert productions in Dresden and across Saxony; notably as the Countess in Albert Lortzing’s Der Wildschütz, in W.A. Mozart’s Coronation Mass at the Semperoper, in Frank Martin’s In terra pax under the baton of Hans-Christoph Rademann, and also in Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder. She won the 2016 International Robert Schumann Competition for Piano and Voice in Zwickau, and was awarded the first prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica Sacra in Rome, the Lied Prize at the DEBUT-Competition 2014 and the second prize at the 43rd Bundeswettbewerb Gesang (Federal Singing Competition) in Berlin in 2014.
As a member of the ensemble at Theater Erfurt for the 2013-2014 season, Henriette Gödde could be seen as Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, as Naemi in Detlev Glanert’s Joseph Süß and as Emilia in Verdi’s Otello. During the same season, she sang the Third Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Staatsoperette in Dresden. As a member of the prestigious Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival, she sang the role of Tisbe in an adaptation of Rossini’s La Cenerentola and was the Alto Soloist in W.A. Mozart’s Mass in C minor.
Henriette Gödde started the 2014-2015 season singing Bruckner’s Mass No. 3 in F minor with the Sinfonieorchester Aachen, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem with the Philharmonie Südwestfalen and Richard Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder at the Great Concert Hall of the Megaron in Athens with the State Orchestra of Athens under the baton of Christoph Poppen. She sang J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) with several orchestras, such as the Dresdner Philharmonie under Roderich Kreile, the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester under Rainer Johannes Homburg, Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen under Thomas Meyer and the Kammerorchester musica juventa Halle/Saale under Gottfried Biller. She also sang the Third Lady in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the Staatsoperette Dresden. She made her debut with the Händel-Festspiele in Halle (Saale) singing George Frideric Handel’s Utrechter Te Deum, Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria and Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Te Deum with the boys’ choir of the Dresdner Kreuzchor under Roderich Kreile. She also appeared at the Dresdner Musikfestspiele as Mrs. Doc in Leonard Bernstein’s A Quiet Place in concert with Ensemble Modern conducted by Kent Nagano. Invitations from renowned orchestras such as the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Cappella Augustana, Virtuosi Saxoniae and the Camerata Salzburg have brought her together with renowned conductors such as Helmuth Rilling and Jörg-Peter Weigle.
In the 2015-2016 season Henriette Gödde took the stage as Erenice in celebrated performances of Sosarme, Re di Media at the Händelfestspiele in Halle (Saale), Germany, as First Maid in Strauss’ Elektra at Theater Magdeburg and could also be heard in L.v. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Orchestre National de Lyon under Leonard Slatkin and as Third Lady in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Staatsoperette Dresden. Further engagements included J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) at the Stuttgart Stiftskirche and G.F. Handel’s Messiah with Filharmonia Pomorska in Poland.
Henriette Gödde debuted with Oper Leipzig in the 2016-2017 season as Erda in Das Rheingold with Ulf Schirmer leading the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and with the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar in the world premiere of George Alexander Albrecht’s Die Schneekönigin as Großmutter and Blumenfrau. She also returned to Halle (Saale) as Erenice in G.F. Handel’s Sosarme, Re di Media. In high demand as a concert singer, she performed J.S. Bach's B minor Mass (BWV 232) at the Kreuzkirche in Dresden with the Dresdner Kreuzchor and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin as part of the Dresden Bach Festival, J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) with the Dresdner Kreuzchor and the Dresdner Philharmonie, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem in Aachen, J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) at the Liederhalle Stuttgart, and L.v. Beethoven’s Mass in C Major with the Münchener Bach-Chor at the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich.
Last season (2018-2019) she returned to Oper Leipzig as Erda in Wagner’s Rheingold and Siegfried with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig under Ulf Schirmer, as well as to Theater Magdeburg in her role debut as Schwertleite in Die Walküre under Kimbo Ishii. She joined the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart under Hans-Christoph Rademann in a programme of J.S. Bach Cantatas at the Liederhalle Stuttgart and the Alte Oper Frankfurt and for the project BACHBEWEGT! TANZ! featuring J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) in performances in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg and on tour in Italy. Further engagements of the season included performances of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) with Concerto con Anima and the Domkantorei Paderborn, as well as Felix Mendelssohn’s Elias with the Mainzeer Bachchor.
Henriette Gödde starts the 2019-20 season with performances under the baton of Riccardo Muti of Schubert´s Mass No. 6 together with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonieorchester. This season also sees her debut with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Jaap van Zweden as Schwertleite in Wagner´s Die Walküre. Together with the Gewandhaus Choir she is heard in Adolph Bernhard Marx´s Oratorio Moses, as well as in F. Mendelssohn's Elias with the Maulbronner Kammerchor. Her regular collaboration with the Dresdner Kreuzchor continues with performances of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244). Further engagements of this seasons include her debut with the Bochumer Symphoniker to perform J.S. Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) in the Konzerthaus Dortmund, a piece she also sings with the Freiberger Domchor, as well as performances of J.S. Bach´s B Minor Mass (BWV 232) with the Berliner Singakademie and the Merseburger Hofmusik in a concert tour to Cuba.
A recently published CD of Cantatas by Gottfried August Homilius (Carus 2014) is the result of a fruitful partnership with Rainer Johannes Homburg and his Handel's Company. This was followed in 2017 with a recording initiated by the Schumann-Gesellschaft to record all Robert Schumann’s vocal chamber music and planned for release by Naxos. She also recorded J.S. Bach’s B Minor Mass (BWV 232) with Collegium Vocale Leipzig and the Merseburger Hofmusik under the baton of Michael Schönheit. |
