The French counter-tenor, Julian Freymuth, began his musical studies at La Maîtrise de Garçons de Colmar (singing, piano, percussion). He then earned his diploma with specialisation Baroque singing at the Center de Musique Baroque de Versailles (2005) and the Diplôme d'Etude Musicale (DEM) as counter-tenor at the Conservatory of Versailles in the class of Gaël Kerret (2007). He took part in numerous master-classes with Robert Expert, Maarten Koningsberger, Alain Buet, Monique Zanetti, Pierre Merv, and Howard Crook.
Since finishing his studies, Julian Freymuth has got the opportunity to sing under the direction of Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman, Philippe Herreweghe, Christophe Rousset, Hervé Nicquet, Dumestre Vincent, Jean Tubéry, Olivier Schneebeli, Benoît Haller, Eduardo Lopez-Banzo, and Joshua Rifkin. He gave recitals in Alsace and travelled throughout Europe (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Poland). He deepened his knowledge of Flemish polyphony of the l'Abbaye de Royaumont with Cappella Pratensis, an ensemble to which he has belonged for several years.
In 2008 Julian Freymuth was heard in a recital of German music at the Festival of St. Riquier and performed with La Chapelle Rhénane secular cantatas and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach, including at the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu. In October he made a tour of the USA with Cappella Pratensis, performing Missa Sancto Donotiano by Jacob Obrecht. In 2009 he took part in La Chapelle Rhénane's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach, with La Maîtrise de Garçons de Colmar and the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles. In 2010 he will sing the Vêpres à la Vierge by Bencini with the Centre de Musique Baroque in France and Italy. |
