La Maîtrise de garçons de Colmar (= MGC) is a boys choir, comprising approximately of 25 boys and 20 men. It has come to play, over the years, an important role ion the musical life of Alsace. Arlette Steyer is the founder and director of the MGC.
The laureate of many prizes and honours, including the prestigious Prix Liliane Bettencourt, awarded by the Académie des Beaux Arts, the MGC regularly collaborates with the leading regional cultural institutions: the Opéra National de Strasbourg, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and the Atelier du Rhin situated in Colmar.
The MGC takes part in well-known festivals: Ambronay Musica in Strasbourg, Ribeauvillé, Geneva, etc., and has been invited abroad, to the USA, Canada, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, England and Japan.
The MGC's varied repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant to contemporary music via a broad swathe of Baroque works. |
