The French tenor, Benoît Haller, studied choral music with Erwin List and Florent Stroesser in Alsace, and with Pierre Cao in Metz (France). He continued with choir and orchestral studies with Proessor Hans-Michael Beuerle in Freiburg. From 1994 to 1997 studied voice with Helene Roth in Strasbourg. And later with Professor Beata Heuer-Christen , Professor Gerd Heinz and Professor Hans-Peter Müller. In June 2000 he sang the role of Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, in June 2002 the title role in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring, and completed his studies by attending master-classes with renowned artists as Eric Ericson and Kurt Widmer.
Following his formal studies, Benoît Haller toured with professional ensembles throughout all of Europe, to the far east in Hong Kong, Autralia, Korea, in Ukraine and in the USA. In Decmeber 2000 he sang role of the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) in the concert hall of Freiburg (Germany) under the direction of Hans-Michael Beuerle. In May 2002, he worked with Jean-Claude Malgoire in the Lille Bach Festival's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244).
Benoît Haller has performed with many renown conductors including Philippe Herreweghe, Frieder Bernius, Konrad Junghänel, and Peter Neumann. In 2002 he was the soloist with the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor under the direction of Thomas Hengelbrock. With this group he made many projects including Purcell's King Arthur, Tsar and Zimmermann by Albert Lortzing, and a musical collage with works by Monteverdi and Gesualdo in Schwetzingen in May 2004. In June 2006 he sang in Israel the Evanglist in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) with the Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem under the direction of Hermann Max.
In January 1998 Benoît Haller created the vocal ensemble La Chapelle Rhénane which specializes in Renaissance and Baroque Music. They produced a CD of the works of Heinrich Schütz under the Harmonia Mundi label in 2004. |
