The Hungarian baritone, Dávis Csizmár, had his first music lessons at age 4; at age 6 he began to play the piano. In musical school years he learned singing, until the music school, then at the conservatory. He was active Even as a chorister. He studied at Városmajori Gimnázium (Class of 1999). At the Weiner Leó Zeneiskola és Zeneművészeti Szakközépiskola in Budapest, he stufied piano (1998-2001), and singing (1998-2002). From 2000 to 2006, he studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music: Music Theory and Choral Conducting (in the class of Professor László Norbert Nemes) (2000-2004), and Opera Singing (with Zsuzsa Forrai) and Singing Education (2002-2006). In 2002 he won the 3rd prize at the Jenő Ádám International Singing Competition. In 2005, he was, according to a cultural website ( "Feher Elephant") chosen as "Singer of the Year". After obtaining his Bachelor of Music degree at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, he moved to Germany and studied until 2009 at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre (HMT Rostock), in the class of Professor Klaus Häger and Professor Karola Theill. In 2013 he completed his graduate recital at the same University with honors.
Dávid Csizmár was between 2009 and 2012 was a member in several German radio choirs (SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, NDR Chor Hamburg, RIAS-Kammerchor, Rundfunkchor Berlin, MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig), working as a freelancer. He was a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Chor. He is still active as a soloist and chorister of the Purcell Choir Budapest and the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart. In addition, he has solo engagements mainly in oratorios and Lieder.
In the 2009-2010 season Csizmár sang the bass part of the Bach Cantatas Series of Orfeo Orchestra in Budapest (Director: György Vashegyi). The concerts were broadcast on Hungarian Radio. He has worked with the same ensemble at the Hungarian premiere of the opera Hippolyte et Aricie by Rameau. In 2013 he sand the same work in his stage debut at the Hungarian State Opera Budapest. He was soloist of SHMF Chorakademie 2010 under the direction of Stefan Parkman. In June 2011, he sang under Helmuth Rilling and in August 2013 under Hans-Christoph Rademann, as soloist of Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart. In the autumn of 2014 he was again with the RIAS-Kammerchor as the guest singer and choir soloist in Ligeti's Drei Phantasien and sang in a premiere of the Dresden composer Thorsten Rasch.
Since January 2012, Dávid Csizmár is a permanent member of the NDR Chor Hamburg. As a choir soloist, he was heard under the direction of Stephen Layton, Thomas Hengelbrock, Eric Whitacre and choir director Philipp Ahmann. He currently lives in Barmbek, Hamburg, Germany. |
