Romano Adami (Choral Conductor)

Born: Italy

The Italian choral conductor, Romano Adami, completed his studies in Flute, Composition, Choral Music and Choir Direction at the Conservatories of Mantua and Brescia, specializing with W. Tripp, G. Acciai, W. Schafer, C. Miatello, C. Hogset, Gary Graden. He attended Gregorian chant courses in Cremona held by I. Augustoni, J.B. Goshl, F. Rampi, A. Turco and N. Albarosa and in Milan by F. Rampi, A. Corno and E.de Capitani.

Romano Adami's activity as conductor and instrumentalist has led him to perform, as well as in the most important Italian cities, in Austria, France, the USA, Germany, Malta, Sweden, Denmark and the Czech Republic. He has recorded for RAI 3 Marche, Radio Austriaca and Radio Tedesca.

In 1992 Romano Adami took over the musical direction of the Coro da Camera Ricercare Ensemble. He has created and performed important repertoires with the Coro da Camera Ricercare Ensemble, also collaborating with various groups and orchestras including the Mantua Chamber Orchestra and the Accademia degli Invaghiti.

As chorus master with the Athestis Chorus Romano Adami performed W.A. Mozart's transcription of George Frideric Handel's Messiah at the Rovereto Festival (Orchestra "I Filarmonici di Verona" conducted by Corrado Rovaris) and of L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Orchestra "A.Toscanini" conducted by Patrik Fournellier).

With the Coro da Camera Ricercare Ensemble as choir-master Romano Adami performed W.A. Mozart's Great Mass in C minor K 427 (Orchestra da Camera di Mantova conducted by M° Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli - Tempo d'orchestra 2000/2001 and in the editions 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011); Ponte San Marco (Bs) 2003 (Orchestra I Filarmonici di Verona conducted by Corrado Rovaris); Haydn's Stabat Mater (Federico Maria Sardelli); H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, G.F. Handel's Alexander's Feast, the Vespers of the B.V. Monteverdi (Federico Maria Sardelli); The Creation (Enrico Onofri); Nelson messe (S. Montanari), Harmonie Messe (Giovanni Antonini).

Romano Adami directed the Coro da Camera Ricercare Ensemble in the execution of Masses and Oratorios for choir and orchestra only (Psalm Dixit Dominus and Messiah by G.F. Handel; Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, Lutheran Masses BWV 233-234, Cantatas BWV 131-BWV 61-BWV 101, Mass in B minor BWV 232, Magnificat in D major BWV 243 and Motets by J.S. Bach; Gloria and Magnificat by Antonio Vivaldi; Te Deum and Nelson Messe by Haydn; Vespro solenne del Confessore by W.A. Mozart; Berliner Messe by Arvo Pärt) performed with the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Accademia degli Invaghiti, Orchestra del Conservatorio Campiani di Mantova.

From 2004 to 2007 Romano Adami was the chorus master of the executive project of W.A. Mozart's sacred work performed at the Mozartfest in Milan and repeated in various Italian cities (Turin, Bari, Pisa, Siena, Bergamo) under the direction of U.B. Michelangeli.
