The Italian violinist and conductor, Enrico Onofri, was invtied while still a student by Jordi Savall as concertmaster of La Capella Reial de Catalunya, and also performed with such ensembles as Concentus Musicus Wien, Ensemble Mosaïques, and Concerto Italiano (Director: Rinaldo Alessandrini). He has been concertmaster and solo violinist of Il Giardino Armonico since 1987.
Since 2002 Enrico Onofri has also appeared with great success as a conductor, receiving invitations from orchestras and festivals throughout Europe and in Japan. In 2005 he became principal conductor of Orquestra Divino Sospiro (the resident Baroque orchestra at CCB in Lisbon). In 2000 he founded the chamber ensemble Imaginarium.
Enrico Onofri has performed in the world’s foremost concert halls alongside such artists as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Gustav Leonhardt, Christophe Coin, Cecilia Bartoli, Katia & Marielle Labèque.
Many titles in his extensive discography (Teldec, Decca, Naive, Zig Zag, Winter&Winter, Opus111, Passacaille, etc.) have received the most prestigious international prizes.
Since 2000 Enrico Onofri has taught Baroque violin and Baroque performing practice at the Conservatorio Bellini in Palermo. He is regularly invited to give master-classes elsewhere in Europe and Japan; in 2011 the Juilliard School invited him to teach a masterclass in New York. |
