English Title: |
The merry hunt is all that I love! (by Richard Stokes) |
Event: |
Cantata for the Nameday of Augustus III, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland |
Composed: |
Originated from BWV 208, probably 1713. It is assumed that the music of both versions would have been almost nearly identical with only a few changes.
1st performance: August 3, 1740 with the Collegium Musicum wherever they held their concerts in Leipzig |
Text: |
Revision by an unknown poet, based upon the original text (but different nevertheless) by Salomo Franck (1716) which Bach used for BWV 208. The differences between the two versions are given in detail in NBA KB I/37. Only mvts. 4,7,9,13 were left unchanged from the original. Mvts. 8 & 12 are completely re-written. |
