History |
The Village Church Bartholomäuskirche (Bartholomew Church) was a romantic building and pieces of that epoch are still visible in the tower. Today the building is of a late-gothic style, which was built, in the 15th century. There are still two altars left from that time. In the early 18th century the galleries were added, which can be reached from the outside trough the ascent made of stone. In 1985 a new organ was added. |

Bach Connection |
J.S. Bach married his first wife and second cousin Maria Barbara Bach (1684-1720) on October 17, 1707 in the Bartholomäuskirche (Bartholomew Church) of Dornheim. Their choice of this church for the wedding probably resulted from their friendship with the pastor there, J.L. Stauber.
