Version in modern German

1. Arie

Also hat Gott die Welt geliebet,
die boese Welt.
Dass er ihr seinen Sohn gegeben,
durch dessen Tod soll jeder leben,
der sich an ihn im Glauben haelt.

2. Rezitativ

Gottlob! Dies lieber Feuer daempft uns die Hoelle;
es schmuetzt darin des Zorn geschaerfter Keil;
was stroem’t aus ihr, als einer Abgrunds Quelle?
Ach! Alles Heil.

3. Arie

Ich sehe meinen, Seligmacher;
Ich kuesse meinen Braeutigam;
Ich kuesse, ich sehe,
ich sehe, ich kuesse.
Das Paradis von meinem Hoffen
seh ich mit tausend Freuden offen,
durch dies verheissne Gotteslamm.
