Born: October 8, 1720 - Borna, 30 km southeast of Leipzig, Saxony, Germany
Died: 1787 - Borna, Saxony, Germany |
Gottlieb Christian Albrecht was born the son of Johann Christian Albrecht (Rector in Borna). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on September 27, 1735; studied there from 1735 to 1746, since August 19, 1735 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from April 22, 1743. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. After his studies, he worked as teacher in Borna from 1750, also sexton from 1763. His brothers were also Thomaners: Gottlob Christian Albrecht (1718-1775) in 1732-1743; Gotthelf Christian Albrecht (1724-unknown) in 1741-1747 |
