The Freiburg Ensemble for Early Music, consisting of young musicians from Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy, making music for several years in different occupations with solid stem, was founded in the spring of 2010 as an association under the name Chapelle de la Vigne.
After the pilot projects (J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) in March, Magnificat (BWV 243) and Cantata Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis (BWV 21) in October 2010) was the ensemble early as 2011, the Baden-Württemberg-Stiftung won as generous sponsors and realize a first production with the Cultural Radio of the Saarland Radio, SR2.
The focus of the ensemble's work is the performance of J.S. Bach's cantatas by soloists according to the latest state of research in musicology and the historically-informed performance practice. In addition, the interest of the musicians also applies repeatedly lesser known works or rediscoveries of J.S. Bach's contemporaries and members of the Bach family, as well as works of J.S.
