The German tenor and choral conductor, Bernhard Schmidt, completed his studies in music education, Church Music (B) and choral conducting in Freiburg, with Hans-Michael Beuerle, Anders Eby and M. Schuldt-Jensen, among others. During his studies he worked as a church musician and freelance choir-master in Freiburg and Stockholm with various choirs of all levels. He completed his training in master-classes, workshops and internships with, inter alia, Simon Halsey (Rundfunkchor Berlin), Marcus Creed (SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart), Erwin Ortner (Arnold Schoenberg Chor, Vienna).
As a freelance singer, Bernhard Schmidt is a regular contributor to projects professional chamber choirs such as the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath), Immortal-Bach-Ensemble (Director: Morten Schuldt-Jensen) or Gaechinger Cantorey (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann).
Since 2010 Bernhard Schmidt is director of the Early music ensemble Chapelle de la Vigne in Freiburg and the Kammerchores Canta Nova Saar in Saarbrücken. Since March 2013 he is Association choirmaster and Head of the choirmaster training of the Saarland Choir Association SCV. In May 2013, he received the Cultural Award of the regional association Saarbrücken. |
