The German soprano, Katharine Hannah Weber, studied after graduation singing with Professor Heidi Rieß at the Leipzig's Musikhochschule (graduated in 2002) and completed in June 1984 her postgraduate studies with distinction. She actively participated in master-classes with Julia Hamari, Graham Johnson, Barbara Schlick, Andreas Scholl and Horst Günther. She was a prize-winner at the International Vocal Competition of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg.
Even while studying, Katharine Weber was engaged for three years at the Theater Görlitz. There she made in 2003 her debut as Pamina in Mozart's Zauberflöte. There followed numerous musicals and operetta roles including the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto and Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel. Since 2001, she has been heard on numerous stages in the Saxon area, an also repeated at the Leipzig Opera House.
The special suitability of her voice for the works of J.S. Bach's characterises her brisk oratorio activity. So Katharine Weber was heard several times at the Thomaskirche, the Nikolaikirche and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.
Katharine Weber has participated in concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Klassischen Philharmonie Bonn, Lautten Compagney Berlin and Halleschen Philharmonie. She was heard at Bachfest Leipzig and the Internat. She was heard and worked on various CD and radio productions. With her duo partners she devotes herself with enthusiasm for Lieder singing. Thus, Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn, but also K. Weill and the Lieder of the 20th Century are in her repertoire.
Since the end of 2006, Katharine Weber lives as a free-lance concert singer in Berlin. |
