The English tenor, choral conductor, music therapiost and music teacher, Warren Trevelyan-Jones, studied at the Malvern College in Malvern, Worcestershire (Class of 1983) and music at the University of Exeter in Exeter, Devon (Class of 1988). He began his singing career as a Choral Scholar and Lay Clerk in Exeter Cathedral Choir, graduating in Music at the University in 1988. In 1993, he qualified as a music therapist at Bristol University and became a Lay Clerk in Winchester Cathedral Choir (2006-2008), combining freelance singing with work in music therapy. In 1999 he was appointed Lay Vicar in the Westminster Abbey Choir, London (January 2000-February 2008).
In 2001 Warren Trevelyan-Jones co-founded the group Ensemble Plus Ultra with Michael Noone and has been fully involved with the administration and direction of the group in addition to contributing as a singer. The group was recently awarded a Deutsche Gramophon Award for its series of 10 CD's of music by Victoria for Archiv. In 2008, with Peter Tregear, Warren founded The Consort of Melbourne and has directed them in a series of concerts at the new Melbourne Recital Centre and for Music Viva Australia. In July 2008, he was appointed Head of Music at St James’ Church, King Street, Sydney (where he is Director of Choir of St James' & BachBand@StJames) and co-founded The Consort of Melbourne. Warren is also director of Sydney based ensemble The Parsons Affayre.
Warren Trevelyan-Jones is also a regular member of many of the leading early music ensembles both in Britain and in Europe. These include Vocalconsort Berlin, Gabrieli Consort, Taverner Consort, Orchestra of the Renaissance, The King's Consort, Dunedin Consort, Collegium Vocale Gent (May 1995-April 2008) and La Chapelle Royale of Paris. He has also performed with The Sixteen and The Tallis Scholars (Director: Peter Phillips). He has travelled extensively and appeared on over 60 CD recordings, on many television and radio broadcasts, in many of the world's leading music festivals and concert halls, and in more than 30 countries. He has recently appeared as soloist with Melbourne Symphony Chorus in concerts in Melbourne and in Angel Place, Sydney.
Warren Trevelyan-Jones is also a qualified music therapist and an experienced singing teacher, has held posts at Winchester College, and was the vocal coach to the Choristers and Choral Scholars of Portsmouth Cathedral in the UK. He currenly lives in Sydney, Australia. |
