The German counter-tenor, Adam Schilling, began his training as a counter-tenor in 2008. From 2012 to 2015, he studied with Janet Williams in Berlin, David Jones in New York and Cathy Pope in London and Alexander Schneider, among others. He participated in a variety of master classes with singers such as Andreas Scholl, Peter Kooy, and Vivica Genaux. Thus he deepened his knowledge on the performance of musical works written in the 17th and 18th century.
Nowadays Adam Schilling is working as a young professional. He regularly performs with renowned ensembles in Germany, Europe and as of late North America. In that he dedicates himself to wide range of the possibilities the repertoire of a counter-tenor has to offer. The interpretation of works of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries takes up the major part of his work. He is a member of Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Vocalensemble Rastatt (Director: Holger Speck), Gächinger Kantorey (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann) and Selbstständig. Besides opera and oratorio he also enjoys artistic performance combining his singing with movement and dance.
Most recently Adam Schilling sang J.S. Bach's Johannes Passion (BWV 245) with Kammerchor Stuttgart under the direction of Frieder Bernius in Stuttgart, Bologna, Brixen, Meran, Innsbruck (January 2016); J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 36 Schwingt freudig euch empor & BWV 147 Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben with Vocalensemble Rastatt in Königsbach & Gernsbach (June 2016); A Cappella Programm with Kammerchor Stuttgart in Speyer, Linz and other cities (October 2016); Joseph Haydn's Theresienmesse with Theresiengemeinde Stuttgart Weilimdorf at St Theresien in Weilimdorf conducted by Stefano Massera and he was the alto soloist (October 2016). In 2017, he also recorded J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) with Gächinger Kantorey under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann. Upcoming projects involving J.S. Bach are Mass in B minor (BWV 232) with both Kammerchor Stuttgart and Gächinger Kantorey and he will be singing Cantatas BWV 21, BWV 78 and BWV 105 at Bachfest Leipzig with Gächinger Kantorey (June 2018).
