Norsk Barokkorkester (Norwegian Baroque Orchestra = NBO) is gathered from the best players on period instruments all over Norway and the Nordic area - with international supplements.
Run by the musicians themselves, the NBO has collaborated widely with a number of conductors - most notably the Norwegian harpsichordist Ketil Haugsand and the British conductor Andrew Parrott.
NBO has appeared at a number of prestigeouse venues and festivals, including Salle Pleyel in Paris, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Bachwoche Ansbach (Germany), Festival Internacional de Musica de Coimbra (Portugal), Festival International de Musique Baroque & Classique du Beaune (France), Luzerner Musikfest-Wochen (Switzerlan), Europäischen Musikfest Stuttgart, Tage Alte Musik Regensburg, Bergen International Festival, Schleswig Holstein Festival and Musikfest Bremen as well as the most important Norwegian events period instruments.
Most of the NBO`s performances have been transmitted or recorded by radio stations in Norway and abroad. Their first CD recording - with music by Seixas for Virgin Classics was appointed CD of the month in Alte Musik Aktuell, December 1995. During the last couple of years 4 CD’s have been released - J.S. Bach suites, Alto arias, Freithoff chambermusic and J.S. Bach's Markus-Passion (BWV 247). Dowlands Lachrymaes will be released in 2003. |
