The Americanm soprano, Rebecca Mariman (neé Rebecca Lynn McDonald), earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from Dickinson College and her Master of Music degree in voice performance from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. She currently studies with Margaret Cusack. She was selected as a Carmel Bach Festival Adams Fellow in 2010 where she studied under Kendra Colton, David Gordon and Sanford Sylvan and has also worked with such leading figures as Julianne Baird, Stephen Stubbs and Nancy Zylstra.
Rebecca Mariman recently made her Carnegie Hall solo debut performing George Frideric Handel's Messiah with The Masterwork Chorus. A specialist in Baroque repertoire, she has appeared with leading early-music ensembles, including Tempesta di Mare (Directors: Gwyn Roberts & Richard Stone), Brandywine Baroque, The Dryden Ensemble, Le Triomphe de l'Amour and at the Connecticut Early Music Festival.
Rebecca Mariman is equally at home in contemporary repertoire. She has been a featured soloist in the premiers of works by Laurie Altman and Andrew Bleckner and has performed David Lang's Little Match-girl Passion numerous times, including most recently at the Carmel Bach Festival for which she was praised for singing “with beauty and grace” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
A member of the Carmel Bach Festival Chorale, Rebecca Mariman was heard as a soloist with the group in an NPR broadcast in 2009. She is a long-time member of the early-music vocal ensemble, Fuma Sacra, led by Andrew Megill, and sings with other professional choirs on the east coast, including Juneau Vocal Alliance, Princeton Singers and Schola Cantorum of The Church of St. Thomas More (New York City).
