The German tenor, Manuel König, had singing studies with Hans Peter Blochwitz in Bern as a concert and opera singer, and graduated with distinction in June (2009?). Especially crucial for his artistic development was the exploration of works by J.S. Bach, and especially his Evangelist parts.
Close collaboration Connects Manuel König to Peter Neumann and the Kölner Kammerchor, with whom he is a member including apperarances at the Bachfest Leipzig and the Palace of Versailles. He has also performed with conductors such as Enoch zu Guttenberg, Konrad Junghänel, Jordi Savall and Christoph Spering. He was a guest of major festivals, such as the Bachfest Leipzig, Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, Innsbrucker Festwochen der alten Musik, and Göttinger Händelfestspielen, and appeared on the stages ofthe Berliner Philharmonie, KKL Luzern and the Moscow Philharmonhie.
O On the opera stage, Manuel König gained his first experiences as a member of the Schweizer Opernstudios at Theater Biel-Solothurn, and later at the Kammeroper Hamburg, in roles as Alfred in Fledermaus and as Lindoro in G. Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri. He was as well regular guest of the Carl Orff Festival in Andechs, as Schwan in Carmina Burana, among others. In the field of new music, he has performed together with Peter Rundel at the Ruhrtriennale as well as with Walter Nußbaum and the Schola Heidelberg, among others.
The highlights in 2010 were J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) under the direction of Christoph Spering in Bilbao as well as Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) with Cantus Cölln (Director: Konrad Junghänel) in Breslau. Other previous important stations in his career were the collaboration with René Jacobs at the Innsbrucker Festwochen, under his direction as Historicus in Giacomo Carissimi's Historia di Jephte and a matinee with Andreas Spering at the Brühler Schlosskonzerten. In 2011 he made with Peter Neumann his debut at Bachfest Leipzig. In summer 2010 he was guest of the Ruhrtriennale in a world premiere of the play Leila und Madschnun by Samir Odeh-Tamimi, directre by Willy Decker. |
