The German soprano, Gertrud Günther, completed her state exam as a singer and singing teacher in 1984 at the Hochschule für Musik "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig. Courses and lessons with Professor Adele Stolte, Professor Lore Fischer and Professor Luisa Bosabalian followed.
As a concert and oratorio singer, Gertrud Günther has performed with a variety of ensembles, choirs and Lieder companions at home and abroad with a diverse, mostly church music oratorio and cantata repertoire. Regular invitations, such as the Festival of Ancient Music in Utrecht, Netherlands, through the Neue Bachgesellschaft: Bachfest, the collaboration with the Thomanerchor Leipzig, Rostocker Motettenchor, the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Dresden, the Frauenkirche in Dresden or the Berliner Domkantorei are among her versatile activities. The singer not only likes to work and perform relatively unknown music of the French, Italian and German Baroque, but especially sacred music of the 20th century. She has been involved in connection with the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Dresden or the Meißner Kantorei 1961 and Ensemble Vocal Modern in several premieres.
Numerous CD recordings (including a. Production of Ernst Peppings Paul-Gerhardt-Liederbuch on HOROS 2002), radio and television recordings document her artistic career.
In various courses and institutes Gertrud Günther received teaching assignments, such as at the Bach Academies of NBG in Cluj, Romania or in Donetsk, Ukraine. Since 1993 she has been a singing teacher at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik der Evangelischen Landeskirche Sachsen. Since 2001 she has been Professor at the same institute. |
