The Italian oboist, Fabio D'Onofrio, gained his performer’s diploma in oboe in 1994 in the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella, Napoli (1994), going on to study with Paolo Pollastri and François Leleux. In 2000 he gained the Qualifica Professionale per Orchestra from the Scuola di Musica, Fiesole (Florence) (2000).
Fabio D'Onofrio has been principal oboe in the European Union Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, I Cameristi di Fiesole, Orchestra Galilei of Florence, I Fiati di Parma, Orchestra Regionale del Molise, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, l'Orchestra Sinfonica di Savona and collaborated with the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Teatro Regio di Parma, and the Orchestra Scarlatti and Teatro San Carlo of Naples.
Fabio D'Onofrio has played under such leading conducotrs as Carlo Maria Giulini, Giuseppe Sinopoli, P. Bellugi, E. Inbal, P. Maag, O. Maga, V. Globokar, D. Gatti, L. Bakalov, G. Apap, G. Bertini, G. Ferro, A. Francis, Vladimir Spivakov and Georges Prêtre and given concerts in France, Germany, Holland, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the UK and Mexico performing in most of the major European venues, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Barbican Hall in London, Theatre de Chatelet and Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris, Teatro de la Zarzuela and Auditorio Nazionale de Musica in Madrid, La Maestranza in Siviglia, Shiller Theater and Konzerthaus in Berlin, Rudolfinium in Prague, Theater an der Wien and Musikverein in Wien, the Opéra Royal in Versailles, Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
Having always been passionate about 18th century music, in 2002 Fabio D'Onofrio began to study philology and early instruments under the guidance of Pollastri, and in 2003 he attended courses taken by Martin Stadler at the 18th Internationalen Handel-Akademie, Karlsruhe. In 2005 he gained the Diploma di Specializzazione Orchestrale Barocca e Classica from the Academia Montis Regalis, Mondovì (CN). The same year he entered the class of Baroque oboe under Paolo Grazzi in the Dipartimento di strumenti antichi, Conservatorio di Verona, where he pursued his philological studies and gained the academic diploma, II livello, in Baroque oboe and Classical oboe (2008).
Fabio D'Onofrio has appeared as principal oboe with the Ensemble Matheus (France), Ensemble Philidor (France), Accademia Bizantina (Director: Ottavio Dantone), Orchestra Barocca Italiana, Accademia Ottoboni, Romabarocca Orchestra, Concerto de’ Cavalieri, La Verdi Barocca di Milano (Director: Ruben Jais), Harmony of Nations Baroque Orchestra, Il Complesso Barocco (Director: Alan Curtis), I Barocchisti (Director: Diego Fasolis), La Pietà de’ Turchini, Academia Montis Regalis, Le Concert d'Astrée (Director: Emmanuelle Haïm) (France), Barockorchester Bremen, Harmonie Music (Austria), Orchester Wiener Akademie and Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra of Los Angeles and . He has played under conductors and soloists of the calibre of Amandine Beyer, Ottavio Dantone, Claudio Astronio, Luigi Mangiocavallo, Enrico Onofri, Alessandro Tampieri, Alberto Grazzi, Filippo Maria Bressan, Alessandro de Marchi, Simon Phipps, Diego Fasolis, Alan Curtis, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Martin Haselböck, Johannes Hiemetsberger, Ronald Brautigam, Giuliano Carmignola and Emmanuelle Haïm.
Fabio D'Onofrio has recorded for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Virgin Classics, Raitrade, Fondazione Amadeus, Classic Voice, Naive, Brilliant, Arcana e Stradivarius.
Fabio D'Onofrio is currently principal oboe with Orchester Wiener Akademie, Concerto de’ Cavalieri and founder member of the Baroque music ensemble TemperaMenti. He currently lives in Naples, Italy. |
