The German soprano, Miriam Burkhardt, studied at Freihof-Gymnasium in Göppingen. She studied at the Musikhochschule Freiburg music education and violin. She completed her singing studies with a postgraduate degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Professor Renate Behle. After graduating, she expanded her singing training by studying with Professor Beata Heuer-Christen and Sibylla Rubens, as well as several master-classes with Professor Klesie Kelly in the frame of the Tibor-Varga-Festival in Sion and at Bachwoche Stuttgart.
Miriam Burkhardt has been singing for many years in the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann), Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius) and Solistenensemble Stimmkunst (Director: Kay Johannsen). As a soloist, she is particularly devoted to the oratorio area. Her repertoire ranges from works by J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart to Johannes Brahms's Requiem and Dvorak's Stabat mater. She has also recently devoted herself to contemporary music through several world premieres.
At the European Music Festival 2010 in Stuttgart, Miriam Burkhardt was heard at the opening concert with Monteverdi's Marienvesper as solo soprano under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. Also in the frame of the European Music Festival 2010 she sang the second soprano part in Robert Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri under the direction of Daniel Reuss. In December 2011, she took over the soprano section under the direction of Stefan Parkman in the Bachkantaten series of the Bachakademie. |
