Ansbach Bach Festival = Bachwoche Ansbach (Choir & Orchestra) |
Founded: 1947 - Pommersfelden; 1948 - Ansbach, Germany |
The Ansbach Bach Festival (Bachwoche Ansbach = ABF) started in 1947, and since 1948 its name is inseparably connected with Ansbach. The fact that J.S. Bach has never been there does not disturb the many inspired visitors, who come every two years from close and far way places to the Frankish residence, knows it nevertheless that his work is maintained here, as if he would be. The Ansbach Bach Festival exhausts those varieties of the interpretation possibilities of the works J.S. Bach on internationally highest level. The multiform, also critical-current requirements fairly becoming program organization, refers to works of other composers also and always proves thereby the uniqueness of the great J.S. Bach. After the establishment days 1947 in Pommersfelden the choice fell on Ansbach, whose churches St. Johannis und St. Gumbertus and its concert halls Orangerie in the Hofgarten (Yard Garden) and Prunksaal in the Markgraeflichen residence offered ideal conditions. |
