Epistle: 2 Thessalonians 2: 3-8

3. Lasset euch niemand verführen in keinerlei Weise! Denn er kommt nicht, es sei denn, daß zuvor der Abfall komme, und offenbaret werde der Mensch der Sünde und das Kind des Verderbens,

[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4. der da ist ein Widerwärtiger und sich überhebet über alles, was GOtt oder Gottesdienst heißet, also daß er sich setzt in den Tempel GOttes als ein Gott und gibt sich vor, er sei Gott.

[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5. Gedenket ihr nicht daran, daß ich euch solches sagte, da ich noch bei euch war?

[5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6. Und was es noch aufhält, wisset ihr, daß er offenbaret werde zu seiner Zeit.

[6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7. Denn es reget sich schon bereits die Bosheit heimlich, ohne daß, der es jetzt aufhält, muß hinweggetan werden.

[7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8. Und alsdann wird der Boshaftige offenbaret werden, welchen der Herr umbringen wird mit dem Geist seines Mundes, und wird sein ein Ende machen durch die Erscheinung seiner Zukunft

[8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

6. Und ich sah einen Engel fliegen mitten durch den Himmel, der hatte ein ewig Evangelium, zu verkündigen denen, die auf Erden sitzen und wohnen, und allen Heiden und Geschlechtern und Sprachen und Völkern;

[6] And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

7. und sprach mit großer Stimme: Fürchtet GOtt und gebet ihm die Ehre; denn die Zeit seines Gerichts ist kommen; und betet an den, der gemacht hat Himmel und Erde und Meer und die Wasserbrunnen!

[7] Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

8. Und ein anderer Engel folgete nach, der sprach: Sie ist gefallen, sie ist gefallen, Babylon, die große Stadt; denn sie hat mit dem Wein ihrer Hurerei getränket alle Heiden.

[8] And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
