Melody & Text | Use of the CM by Bach | Use of the CM by other composers

Melody & Text:

Text: Ich bin ja, Herr, in deiner Macht

Author: Simon Dach (1648)

Melody: Zahn 5869a

Composer: Heinrich Albert (1648)

Use of the Chorale Melody by Bach:

Text: Ich bin ja, Herr, in deiner Macht

Sacred Song Ich bin ja, Herr, in deiner Macht, BWV 464
From the Schemelli Gesangbuch (No. 861), Leipzig, 1736; NBA No. 58. Ref: BC F276.
The melody is not by J. S. Bach and there is very little evidence that Bach had anything at all to do with the figured bass line.;.

BWV Deest: Wiemer 7

Use of the Chorale Melody by other composers:

Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767):
Ich bin ja, Herr, in deiner Macht, sacred cantata for chorus, 2 oboes, oboe d'amour, bassoon, cornet, strings & continuo, TWV 1:822 (1754)

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788):
Ich bin ja Herr in deiner Macht, chorale setting for organ (or keyboard), H. 336/2 (before 1789)

Sources: NBA, vols. III/2.1 & 2.2 in particular [Bärenreiter, 1954 to present] and the BWV ("Bach Werke Verzeichnis") [Breitkopf & Härtel, 1998]
