The American counter-tenor, organist and harpsichordist, James Walton, is an alum of Pacific Youth Choir, during which time he took lessons with Scott Tuomi. During high school (Benson High School: 2013-2017), he sang in the SFYCA at the Oregon Bach Festival. He currently studies for his Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance & Vocal Historical Performance at Indiana University Bloomington's Jacobs School of Music (since August 2021; expected graduation: 2025). He is a recipient of the Jacobs Scholarship. He has studied piano with Deborah Cleaver, cello with Hannah Hildebrand, and studied organ with Hannah Brewer and David Boeckh.
James is a Freelance Musician since June 2019. He served as organist at Camas United Methodist Church in Camas, Washington (May-August 2021). He is currently Choral Scholar (Alto) at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bloomington, Indiana (since August 2021), where he teaches piano at the choir school. His interests include early music, improvisation, and accompanying. He plays a number of other instruments, including harpsichord, recorder, and cello. Currently he is based in Bloomington, Indiana. |
